Nutmeg needs a foster or forever home. She was pulled from a local shelter with her three puppies. Her puppies have all been adopted. She has not grown to love people while in her foster home, but she gets along beautifully with other dogs. Unfortunately that means all her social needs are being met by the other dogs and she has no motivation to interact with humans. She is not aggressive with people at all, but she shies away if you try to pet her and she struggles and fights for all she is worth to escape when she needs to be handled. She does get excited to see her foster parents and she will sniff their hands, but she will not let anyone pet her. Her foster mom feels that if she only had people to interact with and no dogs, she'd come around and be very sweet, but she unable to give her that. She potties outside and on puppy pads. She will stay in a crate with no trouble, but she has not been in one since her puppies were adopted. She hasn't caused any trouble while loose inside, even when unsupervised. She is one of the first to come back in the house when called in after a potty break. She knows her name is Meggie/Nutmeg. She weighs 23 pounds and is likely a beagle/dachshund mix about 2 or 3 years old. She has a submissive personality and can be shy and nervous at first but she does settle in if you give her time. She's great with other dogs, but she either needs a foster home with no other dogs so that she is forced to interact with humans. Or she needs a home where she can be with other dogs and not expected to interact much with humans. We want what is best for her.
