Shelby May is ready for her forever home! I’m currently searching for my perfect humans to snuggle and love! I unfortunately had a rough start at life. I was kept on a chain and didn’t get fed very much, so I was emaciated. I have heartworms, but have started slow kill treatment. I also had the mange, but it is all cleared up now. All I wanted was a chance to be loved like a normal dog. My foster mom found me and scooped me up in her car and we never looked back! Since then my hair has grown back! I’ve also gained quite a few pounds, and I’m loving all this food and belly rubs! I’m a great hound dog that loves naps on the couch and especially naps in my kennel. After my meal and potty break Im ready to crawl on my comfy bed and catch all the zzz’s. Speaking of potty breaks, I’m all the way house trained! My foster mom works all day and I do so good waiting until she gets home to potty. Im a good girl and I love kids and love other dogs as well! I haven’t been around cats much but I’m so sweet I’d probably be fine with them too! There is a couple things I need to work on that’s no fault of my own. You see when I was chained I spent many nights in the rain and thunder storms and I developed some “thunder anxiety.” I can’t help but to bark and howl when that scary stuff happens. My foster mom just puts me in a nice quiet room and after the thunder is over I settle down. Also during those horrible days chained outside I didn’t have any food, so now when I see food I go crazy for it! It’s so yummy and I don’t know when I’ll get some again. My foster mommy just feeds me in my kennel and I do fine! I love my foster moms house but unfortunately she doesn’t have a yard and you know.. a hound dog loves to run and play outside! Hopefully I can find someone with a big ol’ fence and I can run and bark and be happy and free with a full belly! That would mean the world to me because I’m so sweet and deserving!
